Democrats thought they could ride another “Republicans are shutting down the government” storyline into political gold. But one of their own media allies just blew that narrative to pieces.
Chris Cuomo—yes, that Chris Cuomo—used two words that left House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries and the Democratic messaging machine scrambling for damage control.
Cuomo’s Reality Check Stuns His Own Party
During his NewsNation broadcast, Cuomo stunned viewers when he refused to parrot the usual Democrat talking points about the continuing resolution to fund the government. Instead, he called them out.
“What you are about to hear from the Democrats is not true,” Cuomo said before rolling a clip of Jeffries attacking Republicans. Jeffries had called the GOP proposal a “dirty bill,” insisting it wasn’t the “clean” measure Republicans claimed.
But Cuomo wasn’t having it. “This is a clean CR,” he declared flatly—referring to a continuing resolution that simply extends current spending levels without major changes.
