A peaceful evening in Southport, North Carolina, turned into horror when a man pulled up to a bustling waterfront restaurant by boat and unleashed gunfire on unsuspecting patrons. Three people were killed and eight others wounded in the shocking Saturday night attack.

Gunfire From the Water
According to officials, the suspect docked at the American Fish Company, a well-known spot along the Southport Yacht Basin, before suddenly opening fire. Witnesses described the chaos as diners and staff scrambled for cover while bullets flew across the waterfront.
The shooter managed to flee by escaping through the Intracoastal Waterway, sparking a frantic search by both local law enforcement and federal authorities.
Emergency Alerts as Panic Spread
The City of Southport issued an urgent warning at 9:53 p.m. on Facebook, posting:
“There are reports of an active shooter in the Southport Yacht Basin. There is an unknown number of injuries. Avoid the area and remain in your homes. Please report any suspicious activity immediately to 911.”
