SCOTUS Just Changed the Rules Before Midterms

The Supreme Court has stepped into another election dispute just days before Americans head to the polls, allowing New Hampshire to maintain tighter voter identification requirements while a legal challenge moves forward.

Thursday’s decision permits state election officials to reject college student identification cards as proof of identity, including when voters attempt to use those cards as supporting documentation through alternative verification procedures.

The ruling represents an important legal development for Republican officials who have defended the state’s election laws against challenges from voting rights organizations.
