Outspoken HBO host Bill Maher took the gloves off during his latest episode of Real Time, locking horns with a progressive guest over radical New York City mayoral hopeful Zohran Mamdani—a man Maher warned could drag the Big Apple into Marxist chaos.
Maher, a longtime liberal turned leftist skeptic, raised serious alarm bells about Mamdani’s extreme agenda, describing him as a “real radical” whose platform includes gutting the police budget, nationalizing grocery stores, and forcing through massive wage mandates that have already tanked economies in states like California.
“He’s not contrived. He’s gonna be the mayor of New York,” Maher warned, making it clear that Mamdani isn’t just fringe noise—he’s a real threat gaining traction.
Maher didn’t hold back, pointing to Mamdani’s overtly Marxist rhetoric. “There’s a lot of opposition [to Mamdani] because we’ve never had someone this radical,” he said. “Some of the things he says, you know he quotes Marxists, ‘each according to their need.’ I mean, that’s straight up Communism.”
