Smokey Bear’s Revenge Caught on Camera?

>> Continued From the Previous Page <<

Yes, you read that correctly—Smokey Bear showed up in full costume to “assist” in the bust and take a victory lap. A series of photos accompanied the post, featuring Smokey in a squad car, striking a pose like the hero he’s always been. The images quickly went viral and lit up the internet like a dry pine forest.

According to local outlet WTVT-TV, the accused thief targeted parks and forests in Pensacola, Panama City, and Orlando. Law enforcement has not yet released his name, but charges are pending—and they could include jail time.

Simpson made it clear this was no laughing matter, stating:
“Smokey is always around our forest and just got lucky today that he saw the bad guy and got him handcuffed.”

The state’s top agricultural official didn’t stop there. He took a moment to remind Floridians about the gravity of forest fire prevention and Smokey Bear’s critical role in educating families. Last year alone, Florida lost more than 24,000 acres to wildfires.

[Smokey] goes to schools, he’s known by our children, he’s known by our families, he is known throughout the United States,” Simpson said.

And then, Simpson dropped the mic with this scathing rhetorical question:
“Who goes and steals an image of Smokey Bear and then tries to profit off of that?”
And his own brutal answer:
“What an idiot! What an idiot,” Simpson declared.

For those unaware, Florida’s Agriculture Department has its own embedded law enforcement unit—something most criminals probably forget when they start scheming in state forests.

Simpson sent a stern warning to any would-be vandals or scammers thinking about making Florida’s forests their next payday:
“If you’re going to go in and commit crimes in our forests, you probably need to find a different place.”
He added:
“We’re the most pro-law enforcement state in the union, [and] Smokey Bear is on the job also.”

Florida may be known for its wild headlines, but this one might take the cake.

The image of Smokey Bear—America’s beloved wildfire prevention mascot—helping detain the man accused of stealing and reselling his signs is already becoming legend.

So, here’s your reminder: Only you can prevent forest fires. And apparently, only Smokey can slap the cuffs on you if you try to steal his face and flip it for cash.
