“By April 2024, fewer than 400 EV charging stations had been installed using the infrastructure funds,” the GAO confirmed.
Let that sink in. That’s 400 chargers in a country of over 330 million people. And this is the administration that claims to be building a better, greener future?
Americans who still believe government can do anything efficiently should take a long, hard look at this train wreck on wheels.
To his credit, President Trump saw the writing on the wall. As Reuters noted, the Trump administration suspended the EV charging station program back in February. Clearly, someone with common sense recognized a bloated boondoggle when they saw one.
Social media users didn’t hold back either. Critics unleashed a storm of outrage over the billions flushed down the drain. “You could’ve handed every American a gift card for charging their EVs instead,” one commenter posted. Others called it “the most expensive failure in green energy history.”
And honestly, they’re not wrong.
This kind of waste isn’t just shocking—it’s predictable. It’s what happens when you let Democrat elites try to play central planner from Washington. Like Soviet-style command economics, the Left believes they can bend reality to their political will. But no amount of DNC wish-casting can override basic economics.
Reality doesn’t care about progressive slogans. Reality cares about supply, demand, and actual results.
Sure, electric vehicles may one day become the norm. Elon Musk has already shown it’s possible when driven by innovation and market forces. But that’s not what happened here. Biden didn’t inspire the market—he tried to force it, and the results are in: the market said, “No thanks.”
Remember Biden’s big promise? Back in 2022, he bragged his administration would roll out 500,000 EV chargers. Fast forward to 2025, and they’ve missed that target by 499,616 units. That’s not just a miss—it’s a national embarrassment.
No wonder Elon Musk responded with ridicule. It was, as some users put it, “one for the ages.”
If the EV revolution is going to happen, it will happen because Americans choose it—not because a confused president and his unelected handlers decree it from the Oval Office.
And that’s the point. Government should never dictate what cars we drive, what energy we use, or how quickly we must abandon what works. That kind of top-down control never ends well. Just ask the GAO.
Because once again, Biden’s failed policies have become the latest case study in why centralized planning doesn’t work. The government tried to force a market that didn’t exist. And billions later, all we got was a few hundred EV chargers and another reminder that this administration is completely out of touch with reality.
When will they learn?
