Israel was rocked Thursday after a direct Iranian missile attack struck Soroka Medical Center, a major hospital in the southern city of Beersheba—marking a new low in Tehran’s ongoing campaign of terror. While the hospital confirmed only minor injuries and no fatalities, the symbolic and strategic implications of the strike have sparked outrage among Israel’s highest-ranking officials.
Though Iran tried to spin the attack as a strike on an “intelligence site,” Israeli officials swiftly dismissed the excuse and instead labeled the assault what it truly was: a blatant war crime.
Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant didn’t mince words. Calling the act “one of the most serious kinds” of war crimes, Gallant promised retribution and held Iran’s Supreme Leader directly responsible.
“Iran committed war crimes of the most serious kind,” he said. “Ayatollah Ali Khamenei will be held accountable for his crimes.”
