Wiles Speaks: MAGA Furious!

White House Chief of Staff Susie Wiles did not need to create a media firestorm. Yet that is exactly what unfolded after a series of on-the-record interviews with Vanity Fair were partially published this week—handing the political left an opportunity it was always eager to exploit.

According to the article, Wiles made comments about President Donald Trump that were guaranteed to dominate headlines rather than clarify intentions. Among the most explosive lines attributed to her was the claim that Trump has “an alcoholic’s personality,” a phrase that—regardless of intent—was destined to be stripped of nuance and weaponized.

The Vanity Fair writer openly acknowledged the unusual nature of the interview. “Most senior White House officials parse their words and speak only on background,” the piece stated. “But over many on-the-record conversations, [Susie] Wiles answered almost every question I put to her.” In today’s media environment, that level of candor is not bravery—it is vulnerability.

Wiles was also quoted taking a swipe at Vice President J.D. Vance, allegedly calling him “a conspiracy theorist for a decade.” That remark, like the one about Trump, was always going to overshadow everything else in the interview. There was no possible scenario in which such comments would be handled with care by a legacy outlet hostile to the administration.
