Clinton’s words in the video are strikingly similar to what Trump and his administration are saying today.
Clinton’s Call for Reform Mirrors Trump’s Push
In the footage, Clinton makes it clear that Americans expect an efficient government that works for them.
“The people demand and deserve an active government on their side,” he said. “They don’t want a government that wastes money, a government that costs more and does less. They voted for change.”
That statement could just as easily come from Trump or Elon Musk today. The DOGE initiative is built on the same principle—cutting waste, eliminating inefficiency, and putting tax dollars to work for the American people.
The official tagline for DOGE is a simple but powerful one: “The people voted for major reform.” That message echoes Clinton’s own words when he declared, “They wanted a literal revolution in the way government operates, and now you and I must deliver.”
Clinton Bragged About Cutting Costs—Just Like Trump
Just as Trump and Musk are making bold moves to eliminate unnecessary bureaucracy, Clinton once proudly touted the cost-cutting measures of his administration.
“Yesterday I announced the reorganization of the White House staff that will reduce our staff by 25 percent, and cut costs by $10 million per year,” he announced in the video.
He even pushed his Cabinet members to take similar steps, much like Trump’s push for a government-wide overhaul.
“The steps we’re taking today will save the American taxpayers $9 billion,” Clinton said at the time. “They won’t be easy, but they will make a difference.”
Those words are eerily reminiscent of Trump’s commitment to draining the swamp, cutting bloated spending, and ensuring that taxpayer money is used wisely.
Government Reform Works—But Democrats Don’t Want It Now
Clinton and Gore’s reforms led to a booming economy, and between 1998 and 2001, the U.S. even saw budget surpluses. That’s a fiscal achievement no administration has replicated since.
The truth is, Americans don’t care whether it’s a Democrat or a Republican who fixes government waste—they just want it done.

Nobody wants their hard-earned tax dollars funding radical gender programs, useless bureaucracies, or shady medical experiments designed to serve special interest groups. When DOGE slashes those bloated programs, everyday Americans cheer.
At the end of the day, Americans want more money in their pockets and a government that works for them, not against them. And anyone who tries to stand in the way of that movement is in for a rude awakening at the ballot box.
