WATCH: McConnell Takes a Hard Fall on Capitol Hill

Former Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) had another troubling health scare Thursday after taking a hard fall inside the basement of the Russell Senate Office Building. The 83-year-old Republican, who has faced years of mobility issues, was caught on camera losing his balance just moments after being confronted by a left-wing protester.

Witnesses say McConnell was moving slowly down a connecting hallway when the incident unfolded. An aide was holding his right wrist to help stabilize him as the two approached an entrance. That’s when a protester suddenly stepped in and began pressing him with a loaded question about federal immigration enforcement.

The activist accused U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement of “kidnapping” illegal immigrants and demanded to know if the senator supported ICE operations. As she fired off the question, McConnell briefly let go of the aide and attempted to walk unassisted — a risky decision for someone with his medical history.

Within seconds, the Kentucky lawmaker stumbled forward and went down, catching himself on his knees before the fall could become far worse. The moment was captured on camera, showing just how quickly things escalated.
