In yet another fiery outburst, Congresswoman Maxine Waters went on a tirade against tech mogul Elon Musk, hurling a barrage of accusations in front of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) headquarters on Monday. Joined by her Democrat allies, Waters labeled Musk a “thief” and a “gangster” while voicing her frustration over recent developments involving the financial watchdog agency.

The protest was staged in response to President Trump’s recent decision to dismiss the CFPB’s Biden-era chief and freeze excessive funding to the agency. White House Office of Management and Budget (OMB) Director Russ Vought announced that the CFPB would remain closed for the week, citing concerns over unnecessary spending.

“Pursuant to the Consumer Financial Protection Act, I have notified the Federal Reserve that CFPB will not be taking its next draw of unappropriated funding because it is not ‘reasonably necessary’ to carry out its duties,” Vought stated. “The Bureau’s current balance of $711.6 million is in fact excessive in the current fiscal environment.”
