The ten Democrats who broke ranks and voted for censure were Reps. Ami Bera (D-CA), Ed Case (D-HI), Jim Costa (D-CA), Laura Gillen (D-NY), Jim Himes (D-CT), Chrissy Houlahan (D-PA), Marcy Kaptur (D-OH), Jared Moskowitz (D-FL), Marie Gluesenkamp Perez (D-WA), and Tom Suozzi (D-NY).
Following Green’s removal from the chamber, Republicans acted swiftly. By Wednesday, three competing resolutions to censure him had emerged. Rep. Dan Newhouse (R-WA), who spearheaded the effort, contacted House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) immediately after Trump’s speech to initiate the process. The House Freedom Caucus also pushed for censure, keeping in line with its previous warnings against disruptive behavior. Meanwhile, Rep. Troy Nehls (R-TX) introduced a separate resolution against Green, quickly gaining over 30 Republican co-sponsors.
Newhouse took a strategic approach, designating his resolution as “privileged” on Wednesday afternoon, a procedural move forcing House leaders to act within two legislative days. Fox News noted this maneuver expedited the process, ensuring a quick vote on the matter.
After the vote, Newhouse stood firm on holding Green accountable. “President Trump’s address to Congress was not a debate or a forum; he was invited by the Speaker to outline his agenda for the American people. The actions by my colleague from Texas broke the rules of decorum in the House, and he must be held accountable,” he told Fox News Digital.
Democrats attempted to block the resolution but failed to prevent the vote. Ultimately, the censure passed, delivering a significant political blow to Green and reinforcing Republican unity against Democratic disruptions.
Green, 77, was forcibly removed from Trump’s address after shouting, “You have no mandate!” as the president highlighted Republican victories in the House, Senate, and White House. The dramatic scene underscored ongoing tensions between Trump’s administration and his Democratic critics.
Speaker Mike Johnson, who ordered Green’s removal, made it clear there would be consequences. “Despite my repeated warnings, he refused to cease his antics, and I was forced to remove him from the chamber,” Johnson posted on X. “He deliberately violated House rules, and an expeditious vote of censure is an appropriate remedy. Any Democrat who is concerned about regaining the trust and respect of the American people should join House Republicans in this effort.”
Green remained defiant after the vote. Shaking hands with Newhouse before addressing the chamber, he defended his actions as intentional and necessary. “I heard the speaker when he said that I should cease. I did not, and I did not with intentionality. It was not done out of a burst of emotion,” Green declared.

He further justified his defiance, stating, “I think that on some questions, questions of conscience, you have to be willing to suffer the consequences. And I have said I will. I will suffer whatever the consequences are because I don’t believe that in the richest country in the world, people should be without good healthcare.”
Green’s outburst was just one of many Democratic protests that night. Some lawmakers engaged in silent resistance, while others refused to stand and applaud Trump’s recognition of a 13-year-old brain cancer survivor as an honorary Secret Service agent. The behavior of congressional Democrats drew harsh criticism from Republicans, who accused them of disrespecting both the president and the institution.

Matter of fact the other democrats were just as childish with their disrespect for innocent citizens there to be recognized!
