Every time a mass shooting takes place, Americans can predict exactly how the media and Democrats will respond. The narrative is set before the facts are even known: if the shooter is white, blame “white supremacy.” If the attacker can be tied, however loosely, to conservatives, then the Right is guilty. If the victims happen to be liberals, then “hate” is the culprit. But when the shooter turns out to be from a favored left-wing demographic, suddenly it’s the gun itself that is at fault.
That is exactly what played out again this week.
The Washington Post ran with the headline, “Minnesota lawmakers urge action against gun violence,” just as Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz and Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey stood outside Annunciation Church and Catholic School in Minneapolis. They weren’t addressing the fact that the killer was a former student who identified as transgender, despised Christianity, and even called himself a Trump-hater. Instead, they were already shifting the focus to “gun violence.”
Standing at the site of the horrific attack, where a transgender shooter opened fire on children as they attended Mass, Gov. Walz declared: “This is part of a pattern all too common — not just in Minnesota, but across this country.”
