A horrifying mass shooting rocked Midtown Manhattan Monday evening when a gunman stormed a high-rise office building near Park Avenue, unleashing a deadly barrage that left five people, including a police officer, dead. The suspect, identified as 27-year-old Shane Tamura from Las Vegas, ultimately turned the gun on himself in a chilling end to the chaos.
The massacre unfolded at approximately 6:30 p.m. inside a 44-story building at 51st Street and Park Avenue—a tower that houses elite offices like Blackstone and the NFL. Witnesses described the chilling scene as “like a barrage of shots … Like an automatic weapon. Like a high-capacity weapon.”
According to reports, Tamura was wearing a bulletproof vest and entered the building armed with a rifle. Moments later, he opened fire, gunning down multiple victims before barricading himself inside the skyscraper.
