In a tense encounter at the Democratic National Convention (DNC) in Chicago, CNN analyst Van Jones found himself in hot water after being confronted by GOP presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy. The confrontation stemmed from Jones’ past incendiary remarks, which Ramaswamy claims directly led to death threats against him and his family.
The seeds of this clash were sown during a 2023 CNN post-debate analysis, where Van Jones made comments that have since been labeled as both extreme and inflammatory. Jones described Ramaswamy as “the rise of an American demagogue,” warning that the GOP candidate posed a significant threat to the future of the country. “That guy is dangerous,” Jones declared on air. “He won’t stop Trump, but he’s going to outlive Trump by about 50 years.”

Jones didn’t stop there. He continued his critique by drawing a chilling parallel to one of history’s darkest chapters. “I’m watching the rise of an American demagogue that is a very, very despicable person… Literally, I was shaking listening to him talk because a lot of people don’t know that is one step away from Nazi propaganda coming out of his mouth,” Jones added.
