In a troubling development in one of the nation’s most crucial swing states, Arizona, over a dozen electoral ballots were destroyed in a fire after a mailbox was deliberately set ablaze. This alarming incident has sparked concern just weeks before a critical election, where both parties are fiercely vying for every vote.

Early Thursday morning, just before 1:30 a.m., firefighters responded to a fire at a United States Postal Service (USPS) mailbox located near 7th Avenue and Indian School Road in Phoenix. According to Fox 10 Phoenix, after the flames were extinguished, crews discovered approximately twenty electoral ballots and other mail pieces were damaged beyond recognition.

The collection box, which sits on the property of the USPS, became a crime scene as law enforcement agencies launched an investigation into what appears to be a deliberate act of arson. Authorities say an unidentified individual set the fire at around 1:20 a.m., just 10 minutes before the Phoenix Fire Department (PFD) was alerted to the scene.
