Marco Rubio is arguably the hardest-working man in Washington, DC. But the internet had one more “job” in mind for him—and Rubio just shut it down with style.
Rubio has emerged as Trump’s indispensable right-hand man. The Cuban-American from Miami holds multiple top roles: Secretary of State, acting National Security Adviser, acting National Archivist, and now, overseer of the Venezuela transition following the capture of dictator Nicolás Maduro.
Working closely with Trump’s deputy chief of staff, Stephen Miller, Rubio helped plan the daring operation in Caracas. On January 3rd, when U.S. special forces captured Maduro, Rubio watched the raid unfold live alongside Trump at Mar-a-Lago. Today, he’s the point man on everything Venezuela—communicating daily with Venezuelan officials in Spanish, coordinating oil sanctions, and managing what many are calling the most intricate foreign policy operation since Iraq.
All this responsibility has made Rubio a prime target for online humor. A photographer caught him slumped in a chair, looking exhausted, and social media erupted. Memes quickly circulated showing Rubio allegedly taking charge of everything from Minnesota to Iran, Cuba, Greenland, and even stepping in at McDonald’s during Trump’s viral 2024 campaign stop.
