Shedeur Sanders, the talented young quarterback and son of NFL Hall of Famer Deion Sanders, recently expressed his gratitude to former President Donald Trump for his vocal support during a difficult moment in his football career. The rising star was expected to be a high pick in the NFL Draft but fell to the fifth round, catching many by surprise.
Sanders, who made a name for himself as the quarterback at the University of Colorado, had been projected as a potential first-round pick. However, as the draft unfolded, he remained on the board far longer than anticipated. In an unexpected turn, the Cleveland Browns finally selected him in the fifth round, a sharp drop that became one of the biggest stories of the draft.
Trump, known for his outspoken nature, took to his social media platform, Truth Social, to criticize NFL owners for passing on Sanders. On April 25, Trump posted, “What is wrong with NFL owners, are they STUPID? Deion Sanders was a great college football player, and was even greater in the NFL. He’s also a very good coach, streetwise and smart! Therefore, Shedeur, his quarterback son, has PHENOMENAL GENES, and is all set for Greatness. He should be ‘picked’ IMMEDIATELY by a team that wants to WIN. Good luck Shedeur, and say hello to your wonderful father!”
