The fight between red-state common sense and California’s runaway progressive agenda just detonated into a full-blown constitutional showdown.
President Donald Trump’s Justice Department has officially taken California to federal court, accusing Governor Gavin Newsom and Attorney General Rob Bonta of passing two radical new laws that strip federal agents of the basic right to protect their identity during dangerous operations.
According to the Trump administration, these laws don’t just violate the U.S. Constitution. They deliberately expose federal officers to harassment, intimidation, and potentially deadly attacks from activists who have grown increasingly hostile toward federal law enforcement.
And the DOJ is done playing nice.
A Direct Challenge to Washington’s Authority
The federal complaint targets two pieces of California legislation — the “No Secret Police Act” and the “No Vigilantes Act” — both designed by Sacramento Democrats to restrict masks, face coverings, and other identity-protecting equipment when federal officers operate in the state.
