Iranian ballistic missiles managed to damage multiple American military aircraft in Jordan during a major missile barrage this week, revealing that Tehran’s attack had a greater impact on U.S. assets than initial assessments suggested.
The strike targeted Muwaffaq Salti Air Base, a strategically important installation in Jordan where American forces operate alongside the Jordanian military. Although the overwhelming majority of the incoming missiles were stopped, at least some of the weapons appear to have gotten close enough to damage valuable U.S. aircraft.
According to a senior American official, one A-10 Warthog was struck during the attack, while roughly eight F-15 fighter jets suffered light damage. CBS News was first to report the aircraft damage.
