California, under Democrat control, has become a flashpoint in the national debate over immigration and law enforcement. The president’s strong directive follows weeks of violent protests and chaos on the streets of Los Angeles. The unrest began after a wave of ICE deportation raids that triggered mass protests led by far-left agitators.
Rioters hurled rocks and even firebombs at federal agents. In response, Trump ordered over 4,000 National Guard troops and 700 Marines into the city to support law enforcement—a move that infuriated California Governor Gavin Newsom and ignited a legal firestorm over federal authority in sanctuary states.
As the situation intensified, ICE operations across Southern California ramped up under direct orders from the Trump administration. “Use all in their power,” Trump had said, calling it the most aggressive deportation initiative in U.S. history. And federal agents are delivering.
In a shocking development, officials with the Department of Homeland Security are pointing the finger directly at Rep. Salud Carbajal (D-CA), accusing him of inciting violence during one of the raids.
According to DHS, the raid in question occurred on July 10 at an illegal marijuana grow operation in California. The enforcement action led to the arrest of more than 360 illegal aliens and the rescue of 14 trafficked migrant children.
As ICE agents worked the scene, a hostile crowd of around 500 left-wing protesters arrived. DHS says an ICE Public Affairs Officer handed Rep. Carbajal a business card—standard procedure—but Carbajal then allegedly held it up, showing it to the angry crowd, effectively doxing the agent.
That’s when violence erupted.
One ICE agent was assaulted—struck with a rock and badly injured. He was rushed to the emergency room with lacerations that required stitches.
DHS spokeswoman Tricia McLaughlin didn’t hold back: “The actions by Representative Carbajal are downright un-American. He dares to claim that his actions were simply congressional oversight, but doxing ICE personnel and inciting a mob of rioters to attack law enforcement is not oversight — it’s abominable.”
She added, “His actions sent an ICE employee to the emergency room. It’s no wonder that ICE agents are facing a 700% increase in assaults when radical members of Congress like Salud Carbajal and [New Jersey Democratic Rep.] LaMonica McIver are openly encouraging and leading their supporters in assaulting law enforcement.”
Adding fuel to the fire, Rep. LaMonica McIver (D-NJ) is now facing serious charges herself. A federal grand jury indicted her after security footage showed her storming into an ICE detention facility in Newark, NJ. McIver is accused of obstructing ICE agents as they attempted to detain an illegal alien.
It’s a shocking trend: elected Democrats not only standing in the way of immigration enforcement but allegedly participating in or encouraging physical interference.
Meanwhile, ICE isn’t backing down. Agents, with help from the National Guard, launched high-profile raids this week on two locations operated by Glass House Farms—one in Camarillo, Ventura County, and another in Carpinteria, a coastal city in Santa Barbara County.
These raids are part of the broader campaign ordered by Trump to crack down on illegal immigration and root out criminal enterprises exploiting sanctuary state protections.
The president’s message is loud and clear: Federal officers will not be abandoned, and lawlessness will not go unchecked. With support from thousands of military personnel and new orders from the top, ICE is now empowered to act decisively—and the days of soft-on-crime policies in sanctuary cities may finally be numbered.
