Trump’s New AG Pick Is Drawing Praise

President Donald Trump is signaling that his current acting Attorney General Todd Blanche may soon be elevated to a permanent role leading the U.S. Department of Justice, a move that would solidify Blanche’s position at the center of the administration’s legal and political agenda.

Speaking during an interview broadcast Wednesday on Pod Force One, Trump was directly asked whether Blanche would ultimately be confirmed as U.S. attorney general. His answer was short but pointed, suggesting confidence in his longtime ally.

“I think he will.”

Trump went on to briefly praise Blanche’s capabilities and performance in the role, describing him as a strong asset inside the Justice Department.

“He’s a very talented guy,” Trump said.

The president also added that Blanche has been performing well since stepping into the acting position, reinforcing the idea that the administration is satisfied with his leadership so far.
