After Trump openly declared that Greenland is critical to American national security, Canadian leaders wasted no time scrambling into damage control mode. What they did next made it clear they believe Trump is deadly serious.

Canadian Foreign Minister Anita Anand and Governor General Mary Simon abruptly announced an emergency visit to Greenland. The timing was not subtle. Trump had just posted on Truth Social that “the ownership and control of Greenland is an absolute necessity” for the safety of the United States.
Within days, Canada was on a plane to Nuuk.
That reaction alone speaks volumes.
Prime Minister Mark Carney was already racing around Europe. He met Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen in Paris while attending meetings related to Ukraine. Standing beside her, Carney publicly affirmed Canada’s support for Denmark’s “sole authority” over Greenland.
In plain English, Ottawa was begging Copenhagen to shut Trump down.
