For more than half a century, Al Michaels has been one of the most recognizable voices in American sports.

From the Miracle on Ice to decades of NFL coverage, Michaels built a reputation as a broadcaster who defined the moment when it mattered most.
But Amazon just made a decision that has many football fans asking whether the legend has stayed behind the microphone for too long.
Amazon Prime Video confirmed that Michaels will return once again as the lead play-by-play announcer for Thursday Night Football next season. He will be 82 years old when the new NFL season kicks off.
The announcement immediately sparked backlash across social media, where fans have spent the past two seasons criticizing Michaels’ low-energy delivery and delayed reactions during key plays.
Michaels first joined Amazon in 2022 after the company secured exclusive rights to Thursday Night Football. At the time, he signed a three-year deal reportedly worth $45 million.
