But Trump didn’t stop there. His Justice Department took immediate steps to prevent such targeting from continuing. Under Biden, the FACE Act—originally intended to prevent physical obstruction of abortion clinics—was weaponized to prosecute peaceful demonstrators. Trump’s administration moved swiftly to ensure this law would no longer be used as a political tool.
Attorney General Chief of Staff Chad Mizelle issued a critical directive to the Civil Rights Division, making it clear that charges under the FACE Act should only be pursued under “extraordinary circumstances” or cases involving “significant aggravating factors.” This memo was a direct response to what many saw as Biden’s double standard in enforcing the law.
Under Biden, radical pro-abortion activists launched over 100 attacks on churches and crisis pregnancy centers after the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade. Yet, almost every FACE Act prosecution was directed at pro-life advocates, exposing a clear bias.
“President Donald Trump campaigned on the promise of ending the weaponization of the federal government and has recently directed all federal departments and agencies to identify and correct the past weaponization of law enforcement,” the Mizelle memo stated.
Biden’s Justice Department used the FACE Act to silence opposition to abortion-on-demand. But Trump put an end to that.
“To many Americans, prosecutions and civil actions under the Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances Act (FACE Act) have been the prototypical example of this weaponization. And with good reason,” Mizelle explained.
The Thomas More Society, which represented three pro-life activists prosecuted under the FACE Act, praised Trump for following through on his promise to end the government’s political targeting of peaceful demonstrators.
“In each of these three FACE Act cases, Thomas More Society attorneys were representing several brave and peaceful pro-life defendants — who can now breathe easy without the heavy burden of federal prosecutors on their backs,” the organization stated.

Trump’s commitment to the pro-life movement didn’t stop with these reforms. He also reinstated the Mexico City Policy, blocking U.S. tax dollars from funding abortions overseas. Additionally, he reversed several Biden-era policies that promoted abortion-on-demand, including government reimbursement for military members and their families seeking abortions across state lines, abortion services at VA hospitals, and taxpayer-funded transportation for illegal immigrants to obtain abortions.
With these bold actions, Trump has reaffirmed his dedication to protecting the unborn and defending the rights of pro-life Americans. His first week in office ended with a powerful statement: under his leadership, the pro-life movement is stronger than ever.
