According to reports and recent internal votes, the New York congresswoman is facing growing resistance from left-wing activists who once treated her as one of their own.
What makes the situation more striking is the scale of the backlash: 512 members of her own socialist base reportedly voted against restoring support for her, signaling a deep and widening fracture between AOC and the movement that once propelled her career.
The fallout began with a major rupture inside the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA). The organization, which played a key role in elevating Ocasio-Cortez’s political profile early on, formally pulled its endorsement in 2024. The group accused her of abandoning core principles, particularly over Israel policy, which it described as a “deep betrayal.”
