“My heart is heavy this morning to learn the passing of my friend and colleague, Senator Lindsey Graham. Lindsey’s long and dedicated service in the Air Force and in Congress carried him to far-flung regions of the world. He was a strong advocate for the United States and a strong ally to freedom-loving countries across the globe,” said Senate Majority Leader John Thune (R-SD). “He believed in the might of America to achieve good in the world and dedicated his life to advancing that cause.”

As news of Graham’s death spread, tributes continued to arrive from leaders across the political spectrum.

South Carolina Governor Henry McMaster praised Graham’s dedication to both his home state and the nation, describing him as “irreplaceable” and “the fiercest of fighters for South Carolina and America — and a loyal and steadfast friend.”

International leaders also acknowledged Graham’s influence on U.S. foreign policy. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky remembered the senator as a consistent supporter of Ukraine following Russia’s full-scale invasion in 2022.

Throughout his time in Washington, Graham established himself as one of the Senate’s most recognizable voices on international affairs and defense policy. His willingness to work across party lines on selected issues, while also remaining an influential figure within his own party, made him one of Capitol Hill’s most prominent lawmakers.

His passing marks the end of a political career that spanned decades and leaves a vacancy in one of South Carolina’s Senate seats. Additional details regarding memorial services and funeral arrangements are expected to be announced by Graham’s family and office in the coming days.

As colleagues, friends, and supporters continue to remember his life and career, tributes from across the United States and around the world reflect the impact Graham had on American politics and foreign policy during more than 30 years of public service.
