In a significant announcement made on Tuesday evening, President-elect Donald Trump confirmed his choice for the next Director of the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA): former Director of National Intelligence (DNI), John Ratcliffe. Trump revealed his decision in a post on Truth Social, stating, “I am pleased to announce that former Director of National Intelligence John Ratcliffe will serve as Director of the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA).” Ratcliffe’s selection marks a return to the inner circle for a figure known for his staunch loyalty and dedication to Trump’s first administration.
Ratcliffe, who served as the DNI under Trump, earned praise from the president-elect for his commitment to unearthing what Trump described as “subversive elements” within the intelligence community. Trump highlighted Ratcliffe’s role in dispelling the Russian collusion narrative that stemmed from the 2016 Clinton campaign. “From exposing fake Russian collusion to be a Clinton campaign operation, to catching the FBI’s abuse of Civil Liberties at the FISA Court, John Ratcliffe has always been a warrior for Truth and Honesty with the American Public,” Trump wrote, adding that Ratcliffe was the only high-profile official to contradict the intelligence community’s stance on Hunter Biden’s laptop during the 2020 election cycle.

With Ratcliffe at the helm, Trump expressed confidence that his appointee will champion “Constitutional Rights” and uphold America’s security, promoting his philosophy of “PEACE THROUGH STRENGTH.” Trump also applauded Ratcliffe’s earlier service to the nation by awarding him the National Security Medal in 2020, the highest honor for accomplishments in intelligence and national security.
