Whoopi Goldberg, co-host of “The View,” finds herself at the center of controversy after claiming she was refused service by a Staten Island bakery due to her political leanings. But new revelations suggest her story may not hold up under scrutiny.
During a recent episode of “The View,” Goldberg celebrated her 69th birthday with cupcakes reportedly reminiscent of her late mother’s favorite treat, Charlotte Russe. The cupcakes were sourced from Holtermann’s Bakery, a 145-year-old family-owned establishment on Staten Island. However, Goldberg alleged that the bakery initially declined to fulfill her order due to disagreements with her political views.

“Now, I should tell you, Charlotte Russe has no political leanings, and the place that made these refused to make them for me,” Goldberg said during the broadcast. She claimed the bakery had provided a flimsy excuse about broken ovens but insinuated the true reason was political discrimination. “They said that their ovens had gone down, all kinds of stuff, but folks went and got them anyway, which is why I’m not telling you who made them,” she added.
