Trump’s Blanche AG Pick Just Got Complicated

President Donald Trump is considering an unusual way around a Senate roadblock threatening to derail Todd Blanche’s nomination as the next attorney general.

Rather than allowing two Republican senators to keep the nomination stalled, Trump suggested he could temporarily pull Blanche’s name and bring it back after the two lawmakers leave the Senate.

The extraordinary proposal came Thursday as Republican Sens. John Cornyn of Texas and Thom Tillis of North Carolina continued withholding their support for Blanche in the Senate Judiciary Committee. Without their backing, the nomination cannot advance through the Republican-controlled panel.
