Trump Unleashes $800 Million War Chest for Midterms

Republicans are heading into the 2026 midterm elections facing a familiar political problem: the party controlling the White House historically has to defend congressional seats in an environment that often favors the opposition.

But this year, Republicans may have an advantage Democrats cannot easily match — money.

With competitive House and Senate races expected to demand enormous sums, the ability to flood vulnerable districts with advertising, organizing and voter outreach could become a major factor. And at least financially, the GOP appears to be entering the final stretch with considerably more room to maneuver.
