A Republican lawmaker in one of the reddest corners of America just handed Democrats a political gift — all because he didn’t like something President Trump said online.

Indiana State Senator Michael Bohacek stunned conservatives Friday by announcing he will vote against the state’s critical redistricting plan, a map that could flip two U.S. House seats into Republican hands in 2026. Instead of fighting for a stronger GOP majority, Bohacek declared he is protesting a Trump post on X that criticized Minnesota Governor Tim Walz and Rep. Ilhan Omar.

Trump’s late-night Thanksgiving message — a long policy declaration on immigration and national security — included a blistering rebuke of leaders in Minnesota over the chaos and crime tied to radical elements inside the state’s Somali population. In the middle of the post, he wrote:

“The seriously retarded Governor of Minnesota, Tim Walz, does nothing, either through fear, incompetence, or both, while the worst ‘Congressman/woman’ in our Country, Ilhan Omar, always wrapped in her swaddling hijab, and who probably came into the U.S.A. illegally in that you are not allowed to marry your brother.”

Hours later, Bohacek announced he was taking his ball and going home.

The Indiana Republican posted a statement on Facebook explaining that Trump’s language offended him personally due to his advocacy for people with disabilities, including his daughter who has Down Syndrome. He told constituents:
