Trump Scores BIG in MTG’s Former District

A high-profile special election in Georgia is now headed to a runoff after a crowded field of candidates failed to produce an outright winner. Trump-endorsed Republican Clayton Fuller finished well ahead of most of his GOP rivals Tuesday night, securing a spot in the next round of voting against Democrat Shawn Harris in the race to represent Georgia’s 14th Congressional District.

The special election was triggered after firebrand Republican Marjorie Taylor Greene stepped down from Congress earlier this year following a public political split with Donald Trump. Her departure left the heavily Republican district without representation and sparked a chaotic multi-candidate race to claim the open seat.

Because no contender crossed the critical 50 percent threshold required under Georgia law, the contest will now move to a runoff scheduled for April 7. In Georgia elections, if no candidate secures an outright majority in the first round, the two top vote-getters must face off in a second election to determine the final winner.

The district itself covers a broad stretch of northwest Georgia and includes a mixture of small towns, rural communities, and expanding suburban areas. Major population centers in the district include Rome and Dalton, as well as areas that stretch toward the Chattanooga metropolitan region and the northern outskirts of the Atlanta suburbs.
