President Donald Trump reacted Wednesday after Dr. Anthony Fauci repeatedly invoked the Fifth Amendment during a contentious Senate hearing, refusing to answer questions from lawmakers investigating his role in the federal government’s response to COVID-19.
Fauci appeared before the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee after being subpoenaed by Chairman Rand Paul. Instead of answering the committee’s questions, the former top federal health official repeatedly asserted his constitutional right against self-incrimination. Reports indicate he invoked the Fifth more than 100 times during the proceeding.
