In a stunning announcement that’s already rattling the global diplomatic stage, President Donald J. Trump revealed he will be speaking directly with Russian President Vladimir Putin in a high-level phone call scheduled for Monday morning. The goal? To stop what Trump has called the ongoing “bloodbath” in Ukraine—a war that has claimed the lives of thousands weekly.
“I WILL BE SPEAKING, BY TELEPHONE, TO PRESIDENT VLADIMIR PUTIN OF RUSSIA ON MONDAY, AT 10:00 A.M. THE SUBJECTS OF THE CALL WILL BE, STOPPING THE ‘BLOODBATH’ THAT IS KILLING, ON AVERAGE, MORE THAN 5000 RUSSIAN AND UKRAINIAN SOLDIERS A WEEK, AND TRADE,” Trump declared on Truth Social Saturday.
Trump’s peace initiative doesn’t end with Putin. Following their call, Trump is set to hold a private discussion with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. After that, both leaders are expected to consult with NATO allies, indicating a serious push toward a potential ceasefire and broader peace deal.
