During a briefing on the hurricane in Valdosta, Georgia, Trump addressed reporters and expressed his frustration with the federal response. “They’re having a very hard time getting the President on the phone; he won’t get on, and of course, the Vice President, she’s out someplace campaigning, looking for money,” Trump said. He further emphasized that he would be heading to North Carolina, one of the states hardest hit by the storm, to personally offer support.

Trump continued to slam the administration for its lack of action, highlighting the urgency of the situation. “The federal government is not being responsive. They’re having a very hard time getting the President on the phone,” he reiterated. “North Carolina has really been hit hard, really, really been hit hard, the hardest. You can’t even get in there right now, and there are a lot of people that have been injured or worse. Very bad, North Carolina.”

The former president also shared his outrage on Truth Social, where he once again mocked Harris for her photo, saying, “You have to plug the cord into the phone for it to work!” Trump did not hold back in his criticism of the Biden-Harris administration, accusing them of abandoning Americans not only during the hurricane but also in previous crises like Afghanistan and the border crisis. “Biden and Harris abandoned Americans in Afghanistan. They sacrificed Americans to an Open Border, and now, they have left Americans to drown in North Carolina, Georgia, Tennessee, Alabama, and elsewhere in the South. Under this Administration, Americans always come last,” Trump wrote.

Trump’s spokesperson, Karoline Leavitt, also weighed in on the matter, criticizing the administration for what she called a complete lack of leadership. She expressed frustration with the government’s priorities, pointing out that billions of dollars have been sent to Ukraine while American citizens suffering from the hurricane’s aftermath are left to fend for themselves. “We’ve given billions and billions of dollars to Ukraine, and there’s nothing else we can do for American citizens who are struggling, no fault of their own? Such a lack of leadership from the White House right now, but President Trump is showing real leadership,” Leavitt said.

Bold, Durable, and Patriotic: Trump Yard Signs Selling Out!

As the Southeast struggles to recover from Hurricane Helene, the contrast between Trump’s hands-on approach and the Biden administration’s perceived detachment has drawn sharp criticism from conservatives. Many feel that this latest incident underscores a growing frustration with the priorities of the current leadership, which, they argue, places more focus on foreign aid and political grandstanding than on addressing the urgent needs of American citizens.

With Hurricane Helene leaving a trail of destruction and millions of lives affected, the question of who is providing real leadership in the face of disaster has once again become a heated topic of debate. As Trump prepares to visit the hardest-hit areas, his supporters are likely to see this as another example of his commitment to putting “America First”—a stark contrast to what they view as a “leadership vacuum” in Washington.
