Those concerns were amplified by a letter written by attorney Peter Ticktin, a longtime friend of President Trump. In the letter, Ticktin revealed that Peters has been physically attacked multiple times while incarcerated. According to the letter, Peters has already suffered three separate assaults by other inmates.
President Trump addressed the broader issue of crime and justice in a statement that sharply criticized Democratic leadership.
“For years, Democrats ignored Violent and Vicious Crime of all shapes, sizes, colors, and types. Violent Criminals who should have been locked up were allowed to attack again. Democrats were also far too happy to let in the worst from the worst countries so they could rip off American Taxpayers,” Trump said.
Trump went on to argue that Democrats reserve prosecution for only one offense.
“Democrats only think there is one crime – Not voting for them! Instead of protecting Americans and their Tax Dollars, Democrats chose instead to prosecute anyone they can find that wanted Safe and Secure Elections. Democrats have been relentless in their targeting of TINA PETERS, a Patriot who simply wanted to make sure that our Elections were Fair and Honest. Tina is sitting in a Colorado prison for the ‘crime’ of demanding Honest Elections,” Trump said.
The president then made his decision official in a Truth Social post.
“Today I am granting Tina a full Pardon for her attempts to expose Voter Fraud in the Rigged 2020 Presidential Election!” Trump said on Truth Social.
Peters’ conviction dates back to October 2024, when she was found guilty on three state charges and sentenced to nearly a decade in prison. Prosecutors claimed she violated election security rules, while supporters argue she was following record retention laws and attempting to preserve evidence that officials wanted destroyed.
Supporters have also pointed to the conduct of the judge in the case. According to observers, the judge openly berated Peters in court, questioned her character, and accused her of having “privilege,” a moment that conservatives say revealed the political nature of the prosecution.
In May, Peter Ticktin filed an amicus brief in Colorado supporting Peters and urging the court to reconsider her treatment. Just days after that filing, President Trump instructed the Department of Justice to explore all available options to secure her release.
Trump has previously called out Colorado officials by name. In a May statement, he sharply criticized the state’s attorney general.
“Radical Left Colorado Attorney General Phil Weiser ignores Illegals committing Violent Crimes like Rape and Murder in his State and, instead, jailed Tina Peters, a 69-year-old Gold Star mother who worked to expose and document Democrat Election Fraud,” Trump said on Truth Social.
Trump continued with an even stronger condemnation.
“Tina is an innocent Political Prisoner being horribly and unjustly punished in the form of Cruel and Unusual Punishment. This is a Communist persecution by the Radical Left Democrats to cover up their Election crimes and misdeeds in 2020,” Trump wrote.
As Peters remains behind bars, Trump’s pardon has reignited debate over election integrity, political prosecutions, and the growing divide between red and blue America. For many conservatives, Tina Peters has become a symbol of what they believe happens when citizens challenge the system and demand accountability.
Whether the pardon leads to further legal action or eventual release remains to be seen, but Trump’s move ensures that the case will remain front and center in the national conversation.

9 years for wanting to follow election laws, and expose fraud that would show the massive amounts of corruption going on behind the ballot box, is Outrageous!! This judge is Clearly In the Pocket of the democratic party in control of the State!! Did he Actually Say She had White Privilege!?!? This Alone Should be Ground to Acquit this woman of All Charges! This should also be enough for a intense review of the judges actions! If there are actions perpetrated by the prosecution along with the judge to deny a fair trial to this woman for political reasons, then All Involved should be sent to state prison for their crimes!!
