President Donald Trump appears to be signaling who he believes should carry the Republican banner after his presidency, according to a new report that points to Vice President JD Vance as his preferred successor.
Behind closed doors, Trump reportedly made his strongest endorsement yet of Vance while speaking with a group of donors in the Oval Office roughly two weeks ago. According to a source familiar with the meeting, the president made his position clear.
“At the end of the day, we need to elect JD,” Trump reportedly said during the private gathering. The Washington Post first reported the remarks.
