President Donald Trump’s administration found itself in a fresh legal confrontation with several major news organizations Thursday after a federal judge ordered the White House to restore the press credentials of CNN, MS NOW and Politico.
The dispute intensified when reporters for the three outlets said they were initially unable to enter the White House despite the court order.
U.S. District Judge Timothy Kelly issued a temporary restraining order early Thursday directing administration officials to “immediately return, reinstate, and restore” the hard-pass credentials belonging to journalists from the three organizations.
Kelly’s order will remain in effect for 14 days as the broader lawsuit continues through the federal courts.
