President Donald J. Trump has just delivered a major blow to one of the most dangerous progressive policies in America: cashless bail. On Monday, the President signed an executive order ending the practice in Washington, D.C. — and at the same time, issued a separate order designed to dismantle it nationwide. He made it clear that cities and states refusing to comply risk losing federal funding.
“We are at a point where Washington is booming again,” Trump declared in the Oval Office as he signed the orders. “People are pouring in like we haven’t seen for years.”
Trump has long criticized cashless bail as a gift to repeat offenders, and his executive action lays out real-life horror stories that show exactly why the policy has failed. The order cites several examples from New York, where left-wing bail reform has unleashed violent criminals back into communities within hours of their arrest.
In one shocking case from 2022, a man with dozens of prior arrests was freed without bail after smearing human waste on a woman waiting for a subway. Just months earlier, he had slugged a bus driver and carried out a hate crime.
