The statement came just one day after Attorney General Pam Bondi and Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche filed a motion to unseal grand jury transcripts related to the Epstein case. The motion, subject to judicial approval, represents a sharp pivot from the Justice Department, which until now had held firm in protecting sealed testimony tied to the controversial figure.
“Given the public interest in the investigative work conducted by the Department of Justice and Federal Bureau of Investigation into Epstein, the Department of Justice moves the Court to unseal the underlying grand jury transcripts in United States v. Epstein, subject to appropriate redactions of victim-related and other personal identifying information,” the DOJ wrote in its court filing.
Despite the DOJ’s move, Trump remains adamant that the effort won’t pacify the political forces weaponizing the Epstein scandal against him and his allies.
“Based on the ridiculous amount of publicity given to Jeffrey Epstein, I have asked Attorney General Pam Bondi to produce any and all pertinent Grand Jury testimony, subject to Court approval. This SCAM, perpetuated by the Democrats, should end, right now!” Trump said Thursday.
His frustration is not limited to the Left. Trump also took a swipe at fellow Republicans who have joined the push for more transparency, calling them “stupid” and “foolish” for playing into the Left’s hands.
“I was surprised, but they got duped,” he said, referring to Republicans unhappy with Bondi’s initial disclosure and still questioning Epstein’s official cause of death.
White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt also weighed in on the media frenzy, pushing back on reports that Trump was considering appointing a special prosecutor to independently oversee the case.
She stated that Trump “would not recommend a special prosecutor in the Epstein case.”
As the pressure campaign grows, some GOP lawmakers in Congress are moving forward with new legislation to force a full release of the Epstein-related files. Their aim: complete exposure of the documents, whether or not the court grants the DOJ’s current request.
Meanwhile, Trump has framed the renewed scrutiny as yet another Democrat-manufactured circus designed to smear him ahead of the 2024 election season.
“I have asked the Justice Department to release all Grand Jury testimony with respect to Jeffrey Epstein, subject only to Court Approval,” Trump reiterated Saturday. “With that being said, and even if the Court gave its full and unwavering approval, nothing will be good enough for the troublemakers and radical left lunatics making the request.”
The battle lines are clearly drawn—Trump and his allies see this as a political hit job disguised as a pursuit of justice. His critics argue the American people deserve every detail. But one thing is clear: this story isn’t going away any time soon.
