In a candid interview with Dr. Phil McGraw, former President Donald Trump did not mince words as he blamed President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris for the inadequacy of Secret Service protection, which he claims led to the shocking assassination attempt at a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania on July 13.
“Biden always made it very tough for us to have the proper number of Secret Service people,” Trump stated during the interview, published on Tuesday. The former president recounted the challenges his security detail faced, particularly at his massive rallies, where crowd sizes often exceeded 50,000. “Our people were always fighting to get more security, more Secret Service. And he knew that we didn’t have enough,” Trump explained, painting a picture of an administration that, in his view, was more concerned with political maneuvering than his safety.
A Chilling Accusation: “I’m the Opponent”
Trump didn’t stop there. He took his accusations a step further, suggesting that the Biden-Harris administration deliberately hindered his security due to political animosity. “So, you know, when this happened, people would ask, ‘Whose fault is it?’ I think to a certain extent it’s Biden’s fault and Harris’ fault,” Trump asserted. “I’m the opponent. Look, they were weaponizing government against me. They brought in the whole DOJ to try and get me. They weren’t too interested in my health and safety.”

The former president’s comments highlight a growing narrative among his supporters that the current administration has been using government resources and agencies to undermine him. Trump emphasized that he felt the administration was “making it very difficult to have proper staffing in terms of Secret Service,” a point that resonates with concerns about his safety leading up to the 2024 election.
