“I wouldn’t lie to the people, and I wouldn’t deceive the people,” Webb said during the debate.
The candidate also addressed concerns about transgender issues, arguing that members of the transgender community are frequently misunderstood and unfairly targeted.
“They say that we want to hurt people,” Webb stated. “I don’t want to hurt anybody. I just want to use the bathroom, and if they want me to use the men’s room, I will, but I don’t want to be assaulted.”

While those comments generated discussion online, a separate controversy soon emerged after reports pointed to a Reddit profile allegedly linked to Webb. The account reportedly contains years of posts discussing what the user describes as an intersex condition and unusual medical experiences.
According to screenshots and archived discussions cited by Breitbart, the user claimed to be both transgender and intersex while describing a variety of physical symptoms that many readers found difficult to believe.
In one post, the individual reportedly wrote, “I’m a trans and intersex woman from Farmington, and I’m running the whole campaign myself — candidate and treasurer both, no big donors, no machine behind me.”
The message closely mirrored language that later appeared in campaign-related materials, fueling speculation that the account belonged to the Senate hopeful.
The posts go on to describe a self-reported medical condition that the user claims has never been properly diagnosed. According to the account, the individual possesses male chromosomes and male anatomy but believes additional internal reproductive organs may also exist.
“Pretty positive I am the XX type, accept [sic] I got internal organs, unless what I am feeling are tumors that just happen to grow where those sorts of organs are usually,” the user wrote. “Was also born with external male parts.”
The account further claimed to have hormone levels that allegedly contributed to the development of female secondary sex characteristics while maintaining male anatomy.
Perhaps the most controversial statements involve repeated claims of experiencing menstrual cycles despite being biologically male. The user alleged that monthly pain and bleeding occur regularly and suggested that the bleeding exits through the digestive tract.
In one lengthy explanation, the user wrote:
“When I am having this monthly period pain and it is not to bad, I feel some thing in my right side about where my appendix is located and something above the bladder. When the monthly pain is real bad, I am feeling something in both my right and left side and above my bladder.
When you don’t have the proper hole, it finds one of two exits, the guy in China was lucky and the exit was his bladder, me on the other was not so lucky. My exit connection was made with my colon. Cause when I get this monthly pain, that is where the blood comes out of.
Intersex like us don’t get diagnosed till our 20’s as we tend not to be born with extra holes. I didn’t get diagnosed in my 20’s cause I was dealing with incompetent doctors who preferred to prescribe opiate pain killers rather than find the problem.”
The same user later stated that a formal diagnosis had still not been obtained and speculated that various lumps and pain in the abdominal region could be reproductive organs, tumors, or enlarged lymph nodes.
The controversy arrives as Webb attempts to gain traction in an already crowded Democratic primary field. By his own admission, the campaign faces long odds and lacks the financial backing enjoyed by more established candidates.
As the debate over the alleged Reddit posts continues, critics are questioning the credibility of the claims while supporters argue that personal medical issues should not overshadow policy discussions. Regardless of where voters stand, the revelations have placed Webb under an intense spotlight at a time when his campaign is seeking greater visibility.
Whether the online account ultimately proves to belong to Webb or not, the controversy has quickly become one of the most talked-about political stories emerging from Maine’s Senate race, adding yet another unusual chapter to an election season already filled with unexpected headlines.
