Senate Majority Leader John Thune is facing fresh criticism from President Donald Trump’s supporters after the Republican-controlled Senate departed Washington for an extended summer break while keeping the chamber technically in session.
The Senate is not scheduled to resume regular legislative business until September 14.
But Washington will not be completely quiet in the meantime.
