Sinema said she traveled to Mexico to undergo the treatment personally, enduring a grueling 15-hour experience that left her feeling “crystal-clear” and “snappy.” She argues that veterans suffering from PTSD, addiction, or traumatic brain injuries deserve access to something that early research suggests could save lives where conventional medicine has failed.
Red states and blue states are already inching toward supporting clinical trials. Texas injected $50 million into ibogaine research, while Arizona — under Democrat Governor Katie Hobbs — approved $5 million after Sinema pushed for it.
Even former Texas Governor Rick Perry and VA Secretary Doug Collins have become advocates, thanks in part to Sinema. She admitted that when Collins got nominated, she texted him immediately because “I need to talk to you about psychedelic medicine.”

Sinema Says Trump’s New Cabinet Creates The Perfect Opening
Sinema openly praised Trump’s second-term cabinet as a group actually positioned to make disruptive breakthroughs. She said the first Trump administration struggled because he relied on D.C. insiders. But this time, she sees a totally different dynamic.
She explained, “This time, he knew he was going to win and intentionally built a cabinet of disruptors… The possibility is ripe in this administration and we should strike while the iron is hot.”
Her message to the psychedelic community was simple: opportunity doesn’t wait.

One of the most explosive comments Sinema made wasn’t even about psychedelics. She noted that Kennedy’s healthy-food initiatives mirror the same goals Michelle Obama once championed — cleaner ingredients, fewer chemicals, and transparency in food sourcing.
“Do we want food with fewer chemicals in it? Yeah… How is this controversial?” she asked.
Democrats, however, now oppose the very ideas they once pushed — simply because they’re being advanced by Trump’s cabinet.
That’s political self-destruction, and Sinema is calling it out.
Blue-State Doctors Are Fighting Ibogaine — Red States Are Supporting It
In one of her sharpest observations, Sinema revealed that the loudest opposition to psychedelic research isn’t coming from conservatives or religious groups — but from medical organizations in deep-blue states.
She said she’s hearing more resistance from left-leaning doctors than from Republicans, even though veterans in conservative states are the ones demanding access most urgently.
This exposes the Left’s true fear: if Trump and Kennedy deliver medical breakthroughs for veterans, Democrats won’t get to claim the credit.
Sinema’s Closing Challenge: Take The Opportunity — Or Miss It
Sinema ended one recent conference speech with a blunt challenge: “Here’s an opportunity. You leave it or you take it. Let’s go.”
Democrats who once stalked her into bathroom stalls now have to watch her collaborate with Trump’s cabinet to advance medical innovation. Their attacks didn’t stop her in the Senate — and they certainly won’t stop her now.
