The Trump administration is once again sending a clear message to the world’s energy smugglers. On Friday, U.S. military forces boarded and seized another oil tanker in the Caribbean Sea, escalating President Trump’s aggressive campaign to choke off illegal Venezuelan oil flows and enforce U.S. sanctions with real force.
According to the U.S. military, American personnel intercepted the motor tanker Olina during a pre dawn operation involving Marines and Navy sailors. The boarding marks the fifth tanker seized under President Trump’s renewed pressure strategy targeting vessels suspected of transporting Venezuelan oil through deceptive or illegal means.
This latest move highlights a sharp shift in U.S. enforcement posture. Rather than relying solely on paperwork, warnings, or diplomatic pressure, the administration is now using boots on deck and helicopters in the air to assert control over critical maritime routes tied to sanctioned regimes.
U.S. Southern Command released unclassified footage showing a U.S. helicopter landing directly on the tanker’s deck as armed personnel conducted a methodical search of the vessel. Alongside the video, Southern Command issued a blunt statement aimed at those attempting to skirt American sanctions.
