Russell revealed the decision during a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, explaining that scheduling conflicts nearly cost him the role entirely. At the same time Sheridan was preparing The Madison, Russell was already committed to Apple TV+.
“I did the second season of Monarch [Legacy of Monsters], the Apple TV show, and unfortunately for me, the timing was when Madison came around,” Russell told Entertainment Weekly.
At first, Russell believed there was no realistic way to make the production work. He even informed Sheridan and his co-star Michelle Pfeiffer that the timing was impossible.
