A terrifying scene unfolded in the heart of Washington as chaos erupted at the prestigious White House Correspondents’ Dinner, leaving lawmakers, journalists, and top officials scrambling for safety.
Authorities have now identified the suspect as Cole Allen, a 31-year-old computer scientist from Torrance, California, whose background is raising serious questions about how someone with such credentials allegedly carried out such a brazen attack.
According to officials, Allen allegedly stormed a U.S. Secret Service checkpoint at the Washington Hilton Hotel while armed, triggering a rapid and intense response from federal agents. The confrontation escalated quickly when, as authorities stated, he opened fire on a Secret Service officer. The agent, protected by a ballistic vest, survived and was rushed to the hospital.
Federal agents immediately returned fire. Despite the exchange, Allen was not struck but was taken into custody and transported to a hospital. Prosecutors are now moving aggressively, signaling that the case will carry severe consequences.
