It should come as no surprise that polling by left-wing publications like The Washington Post typically results in higher numbers for Democrats. On the other hand, surveys carried out by moderate organizations such as the Wall Street Journal tend to prefer Republicans.
As one might expect, NBC News surveys prefer Joe Biden over Donald Trump in fictitious matches, going all the way back to the days when Biden was the opponent and Trump was the incumbent.
Now, at last, the time has come.
According to a recent NBC News survey, Trump has a tiny lead against Biden in the general election.
(Notably, as NBC News quickly notes, “the deficit is well within the poll’s margin of error for a contest that’s still more than 11 months away.”)
With the general pattern of recent NBC News surveys, Biden might be in jeopardy with even a small advantage inside the margin of error.
By July 2023, Biden’s advantage over Trump was 49 to 45, comfortably above the 3.1 percentage point margin of error. Just 6% of voters said they were not sure or could not decide.
Both Biden and Trump have received 46% of the vote, putting them in a close battle. 8% of voters are still unsure as of this writing.

In November, Trump gains a 46-44 lead over Biden in an NBC News survey, outperforming Biden for the first time. Ten percent of voters are unsure at this point.
An unsettling predicament for the Democratic president in office, who must overcome the difficult chore of discovering favorable findings in polling data for the anticipated 2024 matchup between Trump and Biden.
These are some intriguing demographic results from the most recent NBC News poll:
- Biden leads Trump among black voters (a whopping 69 to 20 percent advantage), women (52 percent to 39 percent), and white voters with college degrees (51 percent to 40 percent.)
- Trump leads Biden among white voters (53 percent to 39 percent), male voters (55 percent to 35 percent) and rural voters (58 percent to 35 percent.)
The Israel-Hamas crisis presents Biden with a formidable obstacle, as noted by NBC.
The vast majority of Americans disapprove of Biden’s handling of the situation.
It is evident that the Democratic Party is split on this issue since some Democrats have joined Republicans in denouncing Congresswoman Rashida Tlaib, who is a well-known pro-Palestinian legislator.
Tlaib frequently calls out Biden for his handling of the Gaza conflict, emphasizing how unpopular he is with regard to the state of affairs in Israel.
Team Biden’s dreams of a GOP primary opponent who can unseat Trump are quickly dimming. The former president continues to lead his fellow Republicans by a wide margin, according to surveys conducted by NBC News.
