A veteran sports columnist has resigned from The Seattle Times after the newspaper refused to publish his column questioning the participation of biological males in women’s sports.
Matt Calkins, who spent 11 years writing sports columns for the Seattle newspaper, announced that he was walking away from his position after editors declined to run a piece centered on female athletes who objected to competing against biological males.
Calkins said leaving was entirely his decision — and that the controversy surrounding the unpublished column ultimately pushed him out the door.
